Meet Melissa
Hi, I’m Dr. Melissa Rich and I am a professional speaker. My goal is to help busy professionals significantly lower the intensity, frequency and duration of anxiety so they can lead productive, dynamic, successful lives.
Every individual has patterns and behaviors that hold them back from reaching their highest potential. I use my 40+ years as a Family Therapist, College Professor, and Consulting Hypnotist to provide expert advice and impactful motivation to start a new journey towards not only achieving their goals, but exceeding them.
My aim is to deliver education, inspiration and entertainment to a variety of audiences. I strive to make every event a memorable experience, placing a large emphasis on delivering actionable content.
I do this by providing my audience with a variety of concrete, practical, usable tools that allow them to take some deep breathes, pause the panic, and start reprogramming their mental and emotional messages and habits. That way they can live the fulfilled, energized, joyful life God designed for them.

Talk Topics

Starve the Anxiety, Feed the Joy
Frequently people with anxiety actually end up feeding their anxiety so it goes on and actually becomes stronger.
Melissa gained a first-hand perspective of how destructive anxiety can be when she married her late husband, Ed. He was a good man, strong Christian, and suffered from severe anxiety that at times became disabling. The second hand anxiety affected her and their 2 sons at times.
Over the years, she has acquired a “tool-bag” of tips and techniques that are extremely effective in decreasing anxiety and restoring calm, hope and balance. These include:
-
Reprogramming your thoughts to eliminate the negative and strengthen the positive
-
Building on your strengths
-
Using technology to rewire your brain
-
Intentionally developing a new, healthier “normal”
-
Interrupting the cycle of anxiety
Melissa offers concrete, doable ways to help participants Starve the Anxiety and Feed the Joy while living the life God has planned for them.

-
Exercising your way to calm and happy
-
The importance of staying hydrated
-
The restorative power of sleep
-
Learning to lighten up
-
Bringing positivity into your life
-
The calming effect of nature
God has a wonderful plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11) and wants us to be healthy, whole and happy. Melissa provides concrete, doable ways for women to experience the best life that they can have.

Testimonials

I work in the Residential Life department at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Before school begins for the fall semester we go through a 10-day training process for our 70+ Resident Assistants in order to prepare and equip them to do their jobs. We cover a variety of topics, one of them being Conflict Resolution, and I asked Dr. Rich if she could come and present this session. Our students found her engaging, relatable, funny, and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Our RA’s have already asked if she could come back next year as a presenter! I highly recommend Dr. Rich to anyone who is looking for a public speaker who is knowledgeable about her area of expertise and someone who is very relatable at the same time!
